Washinkan Kendo

COVID-19 Update, April 9th, 2023.

The AUSKF has modified their mask requirement. Due to AUSKF's policy change, Washinkan has adopted the following; a) masks are optional, b) continued use of the face shield (or half face shield) is encouraged.

Washinkan will continue to support any individual that chooses to wear a face mask. Washinkan will monitor the local and regional situation regarding Covid-19 and if necessary may mandate mask usage in the future.

Additionally, no word has been provided regarding the "Cessation of Tsubazeraia" due to Covid-19. That may change at a later time, but for now the rule appears to remain in place.

AUSKF Message,

Use of mask / shield update April 1, 2023

As of April 1, 2023, AUSKF does NOT mandate use of mask or shield at everyday practice, regional or national events.  Usage of mask and/or shield is optional, and it is up to each individual.

The Covid-19 infection and death rate has declined, probably due to many factors including vaccinations.

Please continue to monitor local situation and policy/ guidelines of the state, county, and the venue of your kendo activity, and be prepared to modify your practice.

If the individual is not vaccinated, and/or has medical condition (Youth members, senior members 70 years and older, immunocompromised ) that makes him/ her more susceptible to serious illness from infectious disease, we strongly recommend continued use of appropriate precautionary measures, such as mask and/or shield.

Thank you,
Michio Kajitani
